[Perjalanan Menuju FKUI] Dennis Oh

Hello! My name is Dennis Oh. I am a student enrolling in University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine class of 2016. I am the first son from 2 children and my brother is in 8th grade. When I was in Kindergarten, I enrolled in Bobobobs. During my primary and secondary years, I enrolled in Sacred Heart Australian School. Lastly, before enrolling in the University of Indonesia, I enrolled in Bina Tunas Bangsa, a school located in Pluit, Jakarta.

    I view University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine personally as a very amazing faculty. It is the most amazing faculty both in the University of Indonesia and Indonesia itself. It contains amazing people who are smart enough to allow them to enroll in this faculty. The people inside the faculty is also motivated and have the integrity required to become amazing doctors.

    Regarding tips on how to get in to University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine. To be honest, I cannot give any useful tips because I did not spend enough effort in trying to enter the Faculty of Medicine. But if I were to give any tips, I think that entering the Faculty of Medicine requires prayer and effort because getting into University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine is no easy feat. In order to enter this faculty, you will have to really spend the effort in studying not only biology and chemistry, but also physics and mathematics because the curriculum here in Indonesia requires you to take the test which involves all 3 sciences, namely biology, chemistry and physics, along with mathematics. If you can study well enough and believe you can score well enough to enter the faculty of medicine, then the next step is praying. Although you can enter the Faculty of Medicine, you will lack the motivation required to SUCCEED in the coming years. A mere human will not be complete without God. That is what I believe. That is why, you do not only need crazy effort, but also faith in God.

    Waiting for the results to come out was of course very tense, who wouldn’t be? Before I was called for the interview, I truly did not think that I would get in at all. I was just waiting for the day the results were going to come out and keep playing and praying. However, for some reason, after I was called in for the interview, I didn’t feel as tense as I was before. Somehow, I thought that I would almost definitely go in, although of course, I was still tense. After I received the results, I was very relieved and really thanked God, overwhelming happiness covered me as I knew that my family would most definitely be proud and I made them happy.

    As for my life wishes for myself, my family, and my faculty, I want everybody to believe in God and always be healthy. Personally, I wish for myself to always be faithful to God and not be lazy. I hope by getting into University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine, I would get motivated and not be lazy anymore, whilst knowing the consequences of being lazy. For my family, I would hope for them to always be healthy and faithful to God, and I hope that they would not be tired of financing my very long medical studies… For my faculty, I hope they can know God and that we can all become good, kind doctors someday who can save lives and improve Indonesia’s health quality.
